both suitable for well-established studies (cell seeding on membranes), and for cutting-edge culture methodologies (use of 3D structures, scaffolds or tissue biopsies, native tissues, …).

recapitulating complex interactions between different cell types, mimicking the in-vivo local environment.
real time imaging of both sample sides,
allowing to evaluate dynamics of growth and differentiation of the biological sample, but also absorption, distribution, metabolism, or excretion of selected drugs.
easy recovery of the biological sample without any morphological damage,
to perform post treatment analysis. This new feature can represent a paradigm shift in the field, allowing to access directly to the biological sample, enabling a more accurate inspection and further assessment of the unknown effects of drugs, nutraceutics, chemicals, pathogens, and environmental toxins. Morphological analysis, in situ expression of proteins or genes, and variations of mechanical properties are representative examples of the numerous possible readouts that could lead to a deeper understanding of drug-tissue interactions.
Reuse of the biological material,
enabling to design sequential treatments and conditioning on the same sample, to better mimic the complex human microenvironment, recapitulating the spatiotemporal complexity of a native tissue (such as incurrence of pathologies and treatments).
